We know that amino acids can exist as a zwitter ion form which contains both positive and negative charge and in cationic form it exist in acidic medium because acid furnish H + which is abstracted by a base ( - NH 2 ) , while in alkaline medium base is there which is capable of abstracting a proton from the carboxylic acid and so it also exists as anionic form.
