A total fixed amount of N thousand rupees is given to three persons...

A total fixed amount of NN thousand rupees is given to three persons A,B,CA, B, C, every year, each being given an amount proportional to her age. In the first year, A got half the total amount. When the sixth payment was made, AA got six-seventh of the amount that she had in the first year; BB got Rs. 1000 less than that she had in the first year; and CC got twice of that she had in the first year. Find NN.

Correct answer

35

Step-by-step solution

Let total amount given each year be N1N_1, and the respective ages of persons A,BA, B and CC are a,ba, b and cc years respectively. ∴\therefore The ratio of initial distribution =a:b:c=\mathrm{a}: \mathrm{b}: \mathrm{c}. If kk is the ratio coefficient then ak+bk+ck=N1⇒k=N1a+b+ca k+b k+c k=N_1 \Rightarrow k=\frac{N_1}{a+b+c} A.T.Q: aN1a+b+c=N12⇒aa+b+c=12\frac{a N_1}{a+b+c}=\frac{N_1}{2} \Rightarrow \frac{a}{a+b+c}=\frac{1}{2}...(i)andb+ca+b+c=12and \frac{b+c}{a+b+c}=\frac{1}{2}...(ii) When 6th 6^{\text {th }} payment was made then ratio of distribution is a+5:b+5:c+5a+5: b+5: c+5. ∴(a+5)k1+(b+5)k1+(c+5)k1=N\therefore(a+5) k_1+(b+5) k_1+(c+5) k_1=N ∴k1=N1a+b+c+15\therefore k_1=\frac{N_1}{a+b+c+15} Again A.T.Q: N1(a+5)a+b+c+15=67⋅ N2\frac{N_1(a+5)}{a+b+c+15}=\frac{6}{7} \cdot \frac{\mathrm{~N}}{2}...(iii) N1(b+5)a+b+c+15=bN1a+b+c−1000\frac{N_1(b+5)}{a+b+c+15}=\frac{b N_1}{a+b+c}-1000...(iv)  and N1(c+5)a+b+c+15=2cN1a+b+c\text { and } \frac{N_1(c+5)}{a+b+c+15}=\frac{2 c N_1}{a+b+c}...(v) From equation (i) and (iii) a+52a+15=37⇒a=10.\frac{a+5}{2 a+15}=\frac{3}{7} \Rightarrow a=10 . From (ii) we get b+c=10b+c=10 ∴a+b+c=20\therefore a+b+c=20 From equation (v) we get : c=2c=2 then b=8b=8. and from equation (iv), we get 13N135=8N120−1000⇒N1=35000∴N=35 thousand \begin{aligned} & \frac{13 N_1}{35}=\frac{8 N_1}{20}-1000 \Rightarrow N_1=35000 \\ & \therefore N=35 \text { thousand }\end{aligned}
