Alnus and Frankia are not associated with the legume family, rest all are legume plants. Legume plants show symbiotic association with Rhizobium . Rhizobium is a bacterial genus associated with the formation of root nodules in plants of the legume family. These are symbiotic bacteria which take in nitrogen from the atmosphere and pass it on to the plant, allowing it to grow in soil low in nitrogen.
