What are dendrites?

The CNS includes the brain and spinal cord and is the site of information processing and control.The afferent nerve fibres transmit impulses from tissues/organs to the CNS.The efferent nerve fibres transmit regulatory impulses from the CNS to the concerned peripheral tissues/organsDendrites are short fibres that branch repeatedly and project out of the cell body of a neuron. They transmit impulses towards the cell body. Based on the number of axons and dendrites, neurons are divided into three types: multipolar (with one axon and two or more dendrites), bipolar (with one axon and one dendrite), and unipolar (cell body with one axon only).
