Consider the given data with frequency distribution cases x _ i & 3...

Consider the given data with frequency distribution

{xi38111054fi523244\begin{cases}{x}_{i} & 3 & 8 & 11 & 10 & 5 & 4 \\ {f}_{i} & 5 & 2 & 3 & 2 & 4 & 4\end{cases}

Match each entry in List-I to the correct entries in List-II.

List-I List-II

mean of the above data is

\left(S\right)</td><td>Themeandeviationaboutthe<br/>medianoftheabovedatais</td><td></td> <td>The mean deviation about the<br /> median of the above data is</td> <td>\left(4\right)</td><td></td> <td>2 . 7</td></tr><tr><td></td><td></td><td>(5)</td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> <td> </td> <td>\left(5\right) 2.42 . 4

The correct option is

Options

  1. A(P)→(3)(Q)→(2)(R)→(4)(S)→(5)\left(P\right) \to \left(3\right)\left(Q\right) \to \left(2\right)\left(R\right) \to \left(4\right)\left(S\right) \to \left(5\right)
  2. B(P)→(3)(Q)→(2)(R)→(1)(S)→(5)\left(P\right) \to \left(3\right)\left(Q\right) \to \left(2\right)\left(R\right) \to \left(1\right)\left(S\right) \to \left(5\right)
  3. C(P)→(2)(Q)→(3)(R)→(4)(S)→(1)\left(P\right) \to \left(2\right)\left(Q\right) \to \left(3\right)\left(R\right) \to \left(4\right)\left(S\right) \to \left(1\right)
  4. D(P)→(3)(Q)→(3)(R)→(5)(S)→(5)\left(P\right) \to \left(3\right)\left(Q\right) \to \left(3\right)\left(R\right) \to \left(5\right)\left(S\right) \to \left(5\right)

Correct answer

A. (P)→(3)(Q)→(2)(R)→(4)(S)→(5)\left(P\right) \to \left(3\right)\left(Q\right) \to \left(2\right)\left(R\right) \to \left(4\right)\left(S\right) \to \left(5\right)

Step-by-step solution

Arranging the given data in ascending order

we get,

{xi34581011fi544223\begin{cases}{x}_{i} & 3 & 4 & 5 & 8 & 10 & 11 \\ {f}_{i} & 5 & 4 & 4 & 2 & 2 & 3\end{cases}

Now finding the mean of the above data we get,

Mean =3×5+8×2+11×3+10×2+5×4+4×45+2+3+2+4+4= \dfrac{3 \times 5 + 8 \times 2 + 11 \times 3 + 10 \times 2 + 5 \times 4 + 4 \times 4}{5 + 2 + 3 + 2 + 4 + 4}

=15+16+33+20+20+1620=12020=6= \dfrac{15 + 16 + 33 + 20 + 20 + 16}{20} = \dfrac{120}{20} = 6

Now, median =12(10th+11thobservation)= \dfrac{1}{2}\left({10}^{th} + {11}^{th}observation\right)

=12(5+5)=5= \dfrac{1}{2}\left(5 + 5\right) = 5

Hence, Mean deviation about mean will be,

=3×5+2×4+1×4+2×2+4×2+5×320= \dfrac{3 \times 5 + 2 \times 4 + 1 \times 4 + 2 \times 2 + 4 \times 2 + 5 \times 3}{20}

=5420=2.7= \dfrac{54}{20} = 2 . 7

And Mean deviation about median

=2×5+1×4+0+3×2+5×2+6×320= \dfrac{2 \times 5 + 1 \times 4 + 0 + 3 \times 2 + 5 \times 2 + 6 \times 3}{20}

=4.820=2.4= \dfrac{4 . 8}{20} = 2 . 4

P→3;Q→2;R→4;S→5P \to 3; Q \to 2; R \to 4; S \to 5

∴∴ Option A is correct.
