In the figure shown, a circuit contains two identical resistors with resistance R=5ΩR = 5Ω and an inductance with L=2mH.L = 2mH . An ideal battery of 15V15V is connected in the circuit. What will be the current through the battery long after the switch is closed?

In the figure shown, a circuit contains two identical resistors with resistance R = 5Ω and an inductance with L = 2mH .

Options

  1. A5.5A5.5A
  2. B6A6A
  3. C3A3A
  4. D7.5A7.5A

Correct answer

B. 6A6A

Step-by-step solution

In the figure shown, a circuit contains two identical resistors with resistance R = 5Ω and an inductance with L = 2mH .

After a long time, when the growth of current in the circuit has stopped, the inductor will work as a conductor. Therefore the effective resistance of the circuit will be,

R=52=2.5ΩR = \dfrac{5}{2} = 2 . 5Ω

Hence, the current through the circuit will be,

I=VR=152.5=6AI = \dfrac{V}{R} = \dfrac{15}{2.5} = 6A
