Two similar reactions have the same rate constant at 25^ C , but at 35^ C , one of the reaction has a higher rate constant than the other. The appropriate reason for this is

Options

  1. Adue to effective collisions
  2. Bdue to different activation energies
  3. Cdue to different threshold energies
  4. Ddue to higher population of molecules

Correct answer

B. due to different activation energies

Step-by-step solution

At room temperature i.e., 25^ C , two similar reactions have the same rate constant. But when this temperature increases to 10^ C the rate constant becomes 2 to 3 times greater than other. This is happened because at higher temperature, activation energies of reacting molecules are different so that collisions be effective. Therefore, at different activation energies rate constant also become higher than initial one.
