A micelle formed during the cleansing action by soap is

Options

  1. Aa discrete particle of soap
  2. Baggregated particles of soap and dirt
  3. Ca discrete particle of dust
  4. Dan aggregated particle of dust and water

Correct answer

B. aggregated particles of soap and dirt

Step-by-step solution

Soap contains hydrophobic (ie, fat soluble or water repelling) as well as hydrophilic (water soluble) end. Hydrophobic end remains soluble in dust or grease particles while hydrophilic end is attracted towards water. Hence, several hydrophobic pocket surrounds the grease particles. This aggregate of soap and dirt is called micelle. On washing with plenty of water dust is removed along with soap.
