Which of the following options are correct? A. An excessive loss of body fluid from the body switches off osmoreceptors. B. ADH facilitates water reabsorption to prevent diuresis C. ANF causes vasodilation D. ADH causes increase in blood pressure E. ADH is responsible for decrease in GFR. Choose the correct answer from the options given below:
Options
- AC, D and E only
- BA and B only
- CB, C and D only
- DA, B and E only
Correct answer
C. B, C and D only
Step-by-step solution
Osmoreceptors in the body are activated by changes in blood volume, or body fluid volume and ionic concentration. ADH, secreted from neurohypophysis, facilitates water reabsorption from latter parts of the tubule, thereby preventing diuresis. ADH has constrictory effects on blood vessels. This increases the blood pressure. An increase in blood pressure can increase the glomerular blood flow and thereby the GFR. ANF can cause vasodilation (dilation of the blood vessels) and thereby decrease the blood pressure.
