Cell cycle consists of Interphase and Mitotic phase. Interphase is divided into G 1 , S and G 2 stages. Mitotic Phase is the actual division phase and is divided into Karyokinesis and Cytokinesis. DNA is seen in all phases. In M phase both 4C and 2C of DNA is seen. In S phase the synthesis of DNA takes place and hence the amount of DNA doubles. Thus after S phase in G 2 phase the DNA doubles i.e. it becomes 4C.
