Correct answer

D. A B C D E 3 5 4 2 1

Step-by-step solution

Underground stems of potato, ginger, turmeric, zamikand, Colocasia, are modified to store food in them. In Cucmber, extra-axillary bud develops into stem tendril. Axillary buds of stems of some plants like Citrus, Bougainvillea get modified into woody, straight and pointed thorns to protect them from browsing animals. Some plants of arid regions modify their stems into flattened (e.g., Opuntia) of fleshy cylindrical (e.g., Euphorbia) structures. They contain chlorophyll and carry out photosynthesis.
