Preserved plant specimen and the information regarding the same is collected and stored in a herbarium. In in the stored specimen may be whole plant itself or parts of it. Generally the plant parts are mounted on a sheet of paper in their dried form (exsiccatae). Fungal preservation collection is generally termed a fungarium. Animal specimen are generally stored in museums for scientific study and research.
