NEET2010BotanyPhotosynthesis in Higher PlantsActual
The first stable product of Calvin cycle is
Options
- A3-phosphoglycerate
- B1, 3 biphosphoglycerate
- Cglyceraldehyde - 3 phosphate
- Dribulose - 5-phosphate.
Correct answer
A. 3-phosphoglycerate
Step-by-step solution
Calvin pathway occurs in all photosynthetic plants which is CO ₂ fixation cycle. Carbon dioxide combines with ribulose-1, 5-biphosphate (RuBp) to produce a transient intermediate compound. The intermediate compound splits up immediately in the presence of water to form the two molecules of 3-phosphoglycerate or 3-PGA. It is the first stable product of photosynthesis.
