At very low CO ₂ concentration photosynthesis is strongly limited by the 1 ow CO ₂ while respiratory rates are unaffected. By increasing the atmospheric concentration of CO ₂ at which photosynthesis just compensate for respiration is referred to as CO ₂ compensation point.
