A modulating signal is a square wave, as shown in the figure. If the carrier wave is given as c (t) = 2sin (8 ) volts,

Modulation index ' $\mu$ ' is related to amplitude of modulation signal ' ${A}_{m}$ ' and amplitude of carrier wave ' ${A}_{c}$ ' as:

$\mu = \dfrac{{A}_{m}}{{A}_{c}}$

Now, from graph ${A}_{m} = 1V$ and from equation of carrier wave ${A}_{c} = 2V$ . Therefore,

$\mu = \dfrac{1}{2}$ .
