Given below are the equations of motion of four particles A, B, C and D
xA=6t−3;xB=4t2−2t+3;xC=3t3−2t2+t−7;{x}_{A} = 6t - 3; {x}_{B} = 4{t}^{2} - 2t + 3; {x}_{C} = 3{t}^{3} - 2{t}^{2} + t - 7; xD=7cos60o−3sin30o{x}_{D} = 7cos {60}^{o} - 3sin {30}^{o}

The particle moving with constant acceleration is

Options

  1. AA
  2. BB
  3. CC
  4. DD

Correct answer

B. B

Step-by-step solution

xA=6t−3{x}_{A} = 6t - 3

vA=ddt(6t−3)=6{v}_{A} = \dfrac{d}{dt}\left(6t - 3\right) = 6

Particle A moves with constant velocity.

vB=ddt(4t2−2t+3)=8t−2,aB=ddt(8t−2)=8{v}_{B} = \dfrac{d}{dt}\left(4{t}^{2} - 2t + 3\right) = 8t - 2, {a}_{B} = \dfrac{d}{dt}\left(8t - 2\right) = 8

Particle B moves with constant acceleration

vC=ddt(3t3−2t2+t−7)=9t2−4t+1{v}_{C} = \dfrac{d}{dt}\left(3{t}^{3} - 2{t}^{2} + t - 7\right) = 9{t}^{2} - 4t + 1

aC=18t−4{a}_{C} = 18t - 4

So, the particle moves with variable acceleration.

xD=7cos60o−3sin30o{x}_{D} = 7cos {60}^{o} - 3sin {30}^{o}

Since xD{x}_{D} does not depend upon time therefore particle is at rest.
