Determine A and B from the following road map reaction:

Options

  1. AC 6 H 5 OH , C 6 H 5 BF 3
  2. BC 6 H 5 N 2 Cl and C 6 H 5 F
  3. CC 6 H 5 N 2 Cl and C 6 H 5 Cl
  4. DC 6 H 5 N 2 Cl and C 6 H 5 OH

Correct answer

B. C 6 H 5 N 2 Cl and C 6 H 5 F

Step-by-step solution

Benzenediazonium chloride is prepared by the reaction of aniline with nitrous acid at 273 - 278   K . Nitrous acid is produced in the reaction mixture by the reaction of sodium nitrite with hydrochloric acid. When benzene diazonium chloride is treated with sodium fluoroborate, benzene diazonium fluoroborate is precipitated which on heating decomposes to yield benzyl fluoride.
