NH 3 , Boron and Nitrogen ( N ) are both s p 3 hybridized and the shape of the adduct is tetrahedral . 3 . Combination of a strong base and a weak acid results in a salt which is basic in nature. Borax is a salt which is formed by the reaction of NaOH (strong base) with H 3 BO 3 (weak acid). Thus, the aqueous solution of borax is basic and not acidic.
