Statement (B) Reaction of HCl (dil.) with finely divided iron forms FeCl ₃ and H ₂ gas is a wrong statement as the whole reaction is as follows: Fe +2 HCl ( dil. ) FeCl ₂+ H ₂(g) The H ₂(g) produced will prevent the formation of Fe ³⁺ (i.e. FeCl ₃ ).
