Firstly we calculate DU (Degree of unsaturation) of given molecular formula as :- DU = C + 1 - H + X - N 2 for C 6 H 14 DU = 6 + 1 - 14 2 = 0 ∴ possibility is for alkanes only. (PCC stands for parent carbon chain) ∴ Total structural isomers of C 6 H 14 are 5 .
